I’ve been working on those when I can over the last week, but I’m not super happy with any of those designs. This is an utterly captivating and authentic teen novel from the author of Solitaire, which VOYA said 'could put her among the great young adult fiction authors.' Frances Janvier spends most of her time studying. There are a number of things that need to get done before I can start in on them, and right now I’m semi-stuck on the fact that this next chapter introduces several important characters at The Hub and I want to get their designs down before I thumbnail anything.
Radio silence comic update#
I’m honestly not ready to make the decision on whether to just update whenever in full colour, or to try and get as many uncoloured pages out as I can as often as I can–and I don’t think I will be ready until I am actually sitting down to draw these pages. I want to start off by saying that I am very much not a fan of how, every time I make a poll to gather info to base decisions on, that info becomes functionally useless in the face of what’s actually going on in my life. Sorry for the radio silence, I’ve spent most of the past couple weeks trying to grapple my anxiety into submission by spending most of the time I am not homeschooling in Animal Crossing, doing Time Crimes. I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported me so far, and I hope what little I did manage to provide was still worth it in a small way.

So in the future, all extra material will be up for free on my tumblr. I’ve realized it’s become a source of bad conscience for me, not being able to upload as much content to it as I wanted. All in all it might result in less frequent uploads, but I’d like to test if that works for me better so the comic can continue.Īlso, I’ll be closing my Patreon for the time being. First of all, I’m going to make a better schedule for myself. The comic will return, but I won’t make any promises to exactly when. Live and learn! This comic was always meant to be a learning experience as much as anything else, and I chalk it up as another important lesson. I still really like what I’ve put up here, but I could have done without the rush. It wasn’t very satistfying, and I felt that I wasn’t able to spend the time making the pages as nice as I wanted, in a workflow that was also nice for me to work within. On top of a new job, I juggled a pretty crazy schedule to make my deadlines for the comic, sometimes staying up all night to upload and still being a day or two late. I decided to go on the break mid-chapter to avoid burnout, but as it turned out, I was already burned out. It’s one of the things I aimed to avoid when I started this comic, to disappear for longer periods of time. First of all, I apologize for the radio silence. Over the summer when Frances has just left year 12 and Aled year 13, they become close friends and bond with their similar tastes in clothes, TV. This changes her life because (spoiler alert), she soon realizes that this mysterious creator, the anonymous 'Radio Silence', is, in fact, Aled Last, the boy who has lived across the street her entire life. That extended break has turned out to be extended indeed. The novel begins when one day, Frances receives a message from the creator of Universe City asking her to become the new Universe City artist.
